The insert is made from polyurethane, which has great resistance to wear and tear. The geometry of the insert exactly matches that of the base shoe. The elasticity of this material allows them to be fitted to a base plate that has been shaped to fit the horses hoof. Wearing soles come in front and hind patterns and 6 different sizes to match the appropriate base shoe.

A tempered steel plate is built into the toe of the insert. This serves to give a firm surface for breakover and more wear in the toe area. This plate is built into the insert at an angle to provide a built in rocker toe effect that eases breakover. The inner surface of the plate (ie: the side away from the ground) is fitted with a locking clip which will be fitted into the toe coupling of the base shoe.
